Conscious Weight Loss Philosophies

Core Concepts

Successful weight loss coaching requires a level of raw truthfulness and bold action around your assumptions, rationalizations, beliefs and desires. Most people don’t know how to do this in a safe and compelling way on their own. It’s humbling yet enlightening at the same time. Each truth you learn to be with opens the door to countless others and each action you bring your energy to paves the path for further progress.

Conscious Weight Loss™ begins with the premise that “everything’s accessible”, with the main objective being to elevate your choices. This process ceases your weight loss search by helping you understand that all of the resources you need already exist within you and that it’s your current mindset and skillset that stand between where you are and where you want to be. It teaches an ethical model based on the following:

Non-Resistance

Non-resistance is your ability to look for the learning. It’s the practice of bringing curiosity, rather than force, to moments of struggle in order to serve your growth.

Congruency

Congruency is about doing what you say you want. More specifically, it means focusing your present-moment energy on what you say you want, in a relaxed and resourceful way.

Self-Integrity

Self-integrity is about doing what you say you’re going to do – keeping your promises to yourself – in developing your character. It’s the act of following through.

Inner Strength

Inner strength is your capacity to be with the truth. It means ownership of whatever it is that your choices manifest, struggle or joy, and doing this without judgement or fear.

Collectively, these concepts form the internal language of conscience. You may think that because you have a conscience, you should be able to abide it. Not true. You can only abide your conscience if the required mindset and skillset have been properly modeled or taught to you. This process is designed to do exactly that, develop your wisdom in this area, thereby providing the glue – the stick-to-it-tiveness piece – for your weight loss efforts.

These concepts also foster and underpin trust, which is necessary in restoring your natural relationship with food and in reconnecting with your natural desire to be in motion. Nobody who begins this process does so with their trust fully intact. After years of diet deprivation and exercise compliance, most of you aren’t even sure what this trust, and the freedom it brings, feels like.

Conscience and trust are what create the life that creates the body you want. These are essential to develop to release yourself from your preoccupation with your weight. You’ll learn how to redirect this energy toward the proven keys of happiness – giving, gratitude, attitude, action, forgiveness, connection, meaning and so forth. Everyone who completes this process speaks of their excitement with their new life, even more so than their new body.

A Different Paradigm

Take a closer look and you’ll discover all of those unsuccessful diet and exercise plans were driven by a “control” paradigm. This is characterized by never-ending struggle (they have you assuming your weight will always be an issue for you), well-worn paths that lack creativity (there’s nothing innovative here, just the same old thing repackaged) and coping mechanisms designed to just get you through the experience (there’s no awareness or richness in what you’re doing). The control paradigm conditions you to interpret your efforts as either good (warranting praise or reward) or bad (demanding punishment or sabotage) and see deservedness as something that must be earned (a “guilty until proven innocent” way of being). Consequently, much of your energy is spent being your own worst critic and trying to shame your way out of your weight issue. This paradigm is fundamentally flawed.

“Consciousness” is the only paradigm that can generate permanent weight loss. It’s characterized by a sense of ease, imagination and joy in your choices and in your experience. It deals solely with creating attraction or resistance states and the lessons that each hold for you and therefore, has none of the badgering, moral judgement of the control paradigm. More importantly, it sees deservedness as innate, a birthright, where your main work is simply unlearning your conditioning in order to allow joy in (a "your wish has already been granted" way of being). This is weight loss with dignity.

The Power of Joy

Our biggest want in life is to feel joy. Regardless what we strive for – the prestige, the opportunities, the material items – it’s always about the feeling in being, doing or having these things. Our biggest challenge then is to learn how to release the struggle in our lives in favour of joy. And in so doing, realize that joy is the reality, whereas struggle was the illusion. Most people only experience joy in fleeting glimpses. This process teaches how to create extended experiences in it.

Interestingly, these extended experiences in joy can be overwhelming. We tend to recognize overwhelm in negative situations but not always in the positive. The truth is, any potent emotion can bring overwhelm on, where we think we don’t have the resources to be in this place. Joy has a grace, power and influence; these are the tools of creation. Practicing consciousness (non-resistance, congruency, self-integrity and inner strength) is key to being with the power of joy.

Conscious Weight Loss™ is ultimately about learning to trust yourself with the tools of creation. When you thoroughly comprehend how your choices author your life, you’ll begin to apply these tools with a boldness, an innovativeness and a view to your growth that will make you feel you’re finally living up to your full potential!
