1. How is this DIFFERENT from every other time I've tried to lose weight?

We shift the focus away from diet and exercise. We start from the premise that you probably don’t believe that anything will work for you anyway. 3. Who might this NOT be a good fit for?

If your focus is solely on shedding pounds to hit a target date, this suggests you’re more interested in controlling the scale than investing in the inner work of this course. This also means your priority might be vanity, not vitality. If the immediacy of a quick fix is more appealing to you right now, this is not the course for you. While we don’t judge these views or motives, they don’t align with our focus. We don’t want you coming into this seeking a magic pill and being disappointed.

So, let’s assume you’ve decided this course is for you and exactly what you’ve been searching for. If you’re considering doing the inner work of this course, you need to be humbled enough by your previous attempts to realize there was something missing in those other approaches. We’ll guide you with a sensitivity that you might be coming from a place of desperation and really want this to work. And it will. But make no mistake, there will be work to do on your part. Most of it will be eye-opening and some of it will be uncomfortable but it’s all doable.

4. I already know about mindfulness practices and intuitive eating so will I learn anything NEW?

Maybe you’ve found mindfulness practices and intuitive eating to be promising. However, it’s likely you slid back into old habits after a brief period. These methods provide an important glimpse of what’s possible but they lack the learning and execution frameworks needed to be sustainable. This is especially true for those who struggle with disordered eating.

We have those necessary frameworks. We help you build on your existing abilities, while keeping the learning fresh and progressively challenging. We offer a thoughtful and layered transformational arc that respects your learning curve. Each step has intellectual, emotional, behavioural and spiritual aims that deepen and integrate. This is instructional design at its most powerful.

5. Can this help if I'm struggling with DISORDERED eating?

Yes, because this approach was designed to fill the gap between psychotherapy and wellness. To be clear, diagnosable eating disorders that impair functioning require psychotherapy or clinical counselling and this is not our focus. However, if you’re like most of our clients you’re struggling with sub-clinical issues (e.g. habitual overeating, emotional eating, food addiction). These would be forms of disordered eating that are not debilitating enough to be clinically diagnosed. Yet these issues are still having a major impact on your quality of life and your ability to realize your potential, your bigger life.

This huge gap, where about 35% of chronic dieters progress to pathological eating, is often ignored or underserved by the healthcare and wellness industries. Other approaches that try to address this gap typically lack the weight loss specialization, deep personal experience and extensive mastery that we have on this topic. We know exactly what it takes to get to the root of your disordered eating and do this inner work. Psychotherapists, social workers and wellness practitioners are among the clients who actually turn to us for personal help on these issues. Even though they have experience helping others work through difficulties on other topics they struggle to help themselves on this topic.

6. Can this still help if I do it WHILE taking weight loss drugs?

While this approach was designed to be a viable and proven alternative to weight loss drugs, it can also be a powerful companion to medication by enhancing its effectiveness and reducing your dependency on it. As medication quiets the food noise, Conscious Weight Loss helps you listen for what’s underneath the noise and meet it with compassion, not avoidance. While medication reduces appetite, we help you understand how your appetite got dialed up to begin with. Medication is a biological support whereas we offer support on deeper intellectual, emotional and spiritual levels. 10. Can I still enroll after the closing date or once the live sessions have STARTED?

Unfortunately, no. After enrollment closes, we need to turn our attention to setting up the Large Group and Small Group Pods and initiating the Kickoff Event. Late enrollments would divert our admin resources away from these crucial tasks. We also introduce key assessments and other foundational material in the first few sessions. This could make it challenging for you to catch up and maximize your learning, if you plan to participate in the live sessions.

11. Can I participate at my OWN pace by following along with the recordings?

Absolutely. You’ll have everything you need to succeed in this course, even if you don’t participate in the live sessions. The online Study Lounge houses all the recordings and documents. Plus, the recordings are designed to fit your learning style – with speed controls, an advanced search tool, and full transcripts. This way, you can study based on your own style and at your own pace.

14. How much TIME per week should I expect to spend on coursework?

Invest just one hour a week in the live sessions or their video recordings, and you’ll be well on your way. Include the audio lessons and you’ll need another 20 minutes to an hour each week. Allow yourself 10 minutes of daily journalling – optional but valuable – and you’ll reap huge personal insights. We encourage you to treat all this like a college or university course: the more you put in, the more you’ll get out.

We know you’re busy and probably struggle to make time for your weight loss efforts. The homework assignments work with your existing habits.
